Ermin Bašić
Born in Mostar, B&H, in 1971. Moved to London, UK, in 1992. Graduate of Westminster University with a CHE BA in Economics for Business. Veteran of the Greater London area hospitality industry.
Ermin has traveled to over 30 countries on five continents. His numerous trips have greatly inspired his poetry. He is father of twin boys.
In his works, Ermin Bašić skillfully balances the introspective and the universal, combining personal reflections with motives that resonate in every reader. His style is expressive, often lyrical, but always essentially clear, with no redundant decorations to cloud the message. Through his poems, vulnerability and strength are felt at the same time – as if every word carries the weight of experience, but also a glimmer of hope.
He has been writing for 15 years and there has been 30 years (started as abstract painter) since he become a casual contemporary artist.
1996 – 1999
Three active years as abstract painter (previously collected his drawings for few years) and did little bit designing throughout painting days with painting of his art on different surfaces.
He painted and used graffiti on lots of unfinished vases which he exhibited in antique shop, Notting Hill 1998/99.
2022 – 2025
Three active years as abstract writer, mainly poet (previously collected poems for many years).
He also did some designing with his artwork prints on different surfaces while writing his books.
During a process of writing his books he designed many photo books with his writings, photos and paintings.
Ermin Bašić published six books – a novella “FROM X TO X” in 2023/2024, then radio drama “THE BALLAD MOSTARIAN IN LONDON” in 2024, a long love poem “BASHA ERMIN” in 2024, drama and poetry “BLACK AND WHITE BIRDS” in 2025, biography and poetry “THE SHIPWRECK OF A DREAM” in 2025, and poetry “THE MURMUR OF THE HEART AND SOUL” in 2025/26.
His books are available in Bosnian, English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Swedish, Turkish, Arabic and Chinese…
Ermin’s poem “Love for the day” was included among the best children’s poems at the regional competition “Musa Ćazim Ćatić” for 2023.
At the regional competition “Eid Joys” for 2024, Ermin’s poem “Night of Forgiveness” was included among the best Eid poems.
He was included in the awarded for his poem “With faith in God” at the regional literal contest for the “Meho Puzić” literary award, for the best unpublished sevdah-song in 2024.
